The last time I saw my Uncle David was Feburary 26, 2022. It was a blustry Saturday morning when I arrived at his home on Main Street of Abbleyville, SC. I had arrived the night before, after attending my brother Dana's memorial serice in Mrytle Beach SC,

Bay of pigs
Arriving as darkness fell at Big Majors spot, a cay in the Exumas with my golden retriever, who would not empty his bowels on board the sailboat. I said to my sailing crew-friend: "I need to get the dog ashore. I'll take him in the dinghy while younuse spot liight to show the way to the beach".
The moving shadows we saw, we considered to be wave action. The dog jumped out of dinghy just as we realized the shadowy figures were feral pig residents of the Cay.
The pig ran, with the dog in hot pursuit. Next thing I heard was loud sqeeling and yelping and then the sound of rapid contact of paws and beach sand .
The Dog jumped in dinghy with a pig snout cheek and jowel close to the golden retriever's tail. I swang a paddle at the snout, pushed off with the pig swimming after us.
The dog jumps back aboard the boat and immediatly, and for first time, empties bowel on deck.
And the porcine swims wee wee wee back to beach
Grandparents
Fred and Ellen Sharron were Mary Rosemon Sharron Martin, his Mom's folks. She called her dad Pa. He owned and was CEO of the Otter River Foundry, which made cast iron products, especially the large black kitchen stoves. Fred Sharron lost the busineness to the depression. They had an integral water tank to draw for Saturday nite baths so everybody would be clean on Sunday for church.
Parents
David's father was David Enos Martin and his Mother was Mary Rosemon Sharron. His father who was a Police man died when he was about 11 in the line of duty. His mom, known as Nana to all 12 of her grandchilden. She was born on 1911 and passed way on April 15th, 2004.
His mother, Mary Martin, poor struggling widow (Nana) convinced an Ivy league prep school to admit her son, David, who was good student and baseball pitcher on a scholarship. David became the top student in his class and maintained the highest grade point average in the entire school, for the four years he attended. David Martin graduated at the top in his class as a valedictorian. He applied to only two colleges: Harvard and Yale. He was accepted by both on full scholarship and chose Yale, were he graduated with ' highest orations' and then was accepted at Yale Medical School on a full scholarship. David was later accepted for a residency in surgery at Tufts Surgical Service in Boston. He spent six years there. One of the years was in lab developing techniques to do liver transplants in dogs. David went in to earn his post Doctorate Master Surgeons Degree and qualifified for board certification in Surgery.
Notes from Uncle David about his mom
Nana was an incredible women. My Dad, David jr died Dec 17,1941. In spite of the reasons , there was no insurance, soc security ,or compensation for the widow. We had nothing no car, rented house, zero income. Some county welfare was available. She would not consider accepting charity she thought it was degrading, embarrassing, and contemptable. She refused all!
She worked am to pm on several menial jobs....Janitor at the winchendon weekly, waitressing (we got a discount for food).
Then the draft of young men forced the hiring of women to fill their shoes. Really the beginning of feminism, which got another boost when solders came home to reclaim their prewar in the workplace.
Notes from Uncle David about his dad
Short digression :I listened to pres FDR's speech about the day in infamy and declaration of war with my DAd on Dec, 8,1941. He was determined to volunteer to join up and kill some Japs. An angered violated American response!

We sailed from Charleston to Bermuda around Thanksgiving and left forr the Virgin Islands New Years eve. The crew included our Siberian Husky, sky. He was adamant about not emptying his bladder and bowel on board. the leg to Bermuda took seven and that to the Islands ten. Went thru a violent winter storm on leg down to the Islands. Skybdid not pee until it just started to leak reluctantly after about three days en route to Bermuda and no bm until landfall tthere. Miserably tossed about the boat During the storm. Leaked some urine but again no BM for ten days! Dropped the anchor at a small uninhabited Rocky , cactus Island named mosquito island on the chart. Dinghyed the dog ashore with all dispatch urgently. Sky bounded off up a rocky ,cactus overgrown hillock. Next came loud yipping and unfamiliar squeeling cacaphony. Thinking the dog was caught im something or being attacked, Scratched by Cactus and sharp bolders ,I rushed to the top of the hill. Met by the astonishing site of a dog humping a feral goat. Then back down to the beach for a satisfying , leisurely bowel evacuation. My friend said give Sky a new moniker. Like what? HLGF. Whats that ? Horny Little Goat Fu--erEnter

Louis Riel is probably one of the most controversial figures in Canadian history, and depending on your point of view, he is often considered either a traitor or a patriot.. He was a political leader of the Métis people in Canada and is often referred to as the founder of Manitoba. After leading a rebellion against the Canadian government in 1885, Louis Riel was hanged for treason in what is probably the most famous trial in Canada.Enter
