My Mother's Grandparents
He was a general handy man for a wealthy family in Winchendon, Massachusetts, The White Family. He did everything from cutting the grass, driving their cars ,etc. His son, my grandfather, David E. Martin Jr, was the Whites chaufeur before he got on the police force. One of his duties was making ice cream for family every Sunday after church. He made in wooden bucket from Alaska Freezer, a Winchendon company.
A large spoon was used in the process. Uncle David, as a boy, got to lick the spoon.
